Eco Resilience Gran Canariais not just a project it is a living lab for change. We bring together young adults, youth workers and future guides to reconnect with nature, themselves and each otherwhile contributing to meaningful eco-actions that ripple out into communities and across Europe.
Set in the breathtaking UNESCO landscapes of Gran Canaria: mountains, drylands and ravines, we host small international groups in an inspiring, Dutch-English-Spanish speaking community. Here, daily life blends ecological restoration, personal growth and cooperative living.
Our foundation rests on four pillars:
Through eco-actions like clean-ups, regeneration and upcycling, and through storytelling in photos, videos and creative expression, we share this transformation with the world.
Join us to reconnect with who you are, discover your talents, and take part in building a future where personal growth and ecological action go hand in hand.
From the ravines in the mountains to the beaches by the ocean, participants engage in circular and regenerative eco-projectsthat combine action with awareness. Together we clear waste, restore fragile landscapes, support biodiversity and help maintain community spaces. Materials and resources are given a new life through reuse, composting and upcycling turning what seemed lost into art, tools and inspiration. Every step is both hands-on and transformative: building resilience in nature, while fostering ecological awareness and creativity in people.
The foundation of the programme. Participants take part in thematic workshops on sustainability, climate justice, circular economy, ecological leadership, and social inclusion. They learn to translate their experiences and insights into impactful communication. A key part of their work involves creating content for social media: photos, videos, blogs, and interviews, that shares their story, increases project visibility, and raises awareness across Europe. Storytelling is used both as a learning tool and as an activation mechanism to convey their message, aimed at fostering ecological and social awareness and a conscious shift in perception and values.
Is embodied in the co-creation of daily life and the promotion of equal participation. Participants share responsibility for cooking, shopping, cleaning, and maintaining a clean, safe, and functional living space. This shared ownership encourages communication, planning, cooperation, and mutual respect. By living and working together in a diverse group, participants strengthen their social skills, self-management, and empathy. The project explicitly encourages collaboration with young people from different backgrounds, with a focus on creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive community.
This pillar focuses on active engagement in ecosystem restoration and circular projects. Participants help establish food forests, plant native flora, and create ecological zones for local wildlife. They organise clean-up actions in collaboration with local partners, aimed at raising awareness and changing behaviours. Additionally, they contribute to circular and nature-based construction using clay, stone, and wood, such as building terraces, walls, shelters, and accommodation units on-site. They also contribute to practical solutions for water harvesting, erosion control, and soil improvement, adapted to the dry and fragile ecosystem of the island. Participants work closely with local residents, offering a helping hand in small-scale, nature-oriented projects and contributing to community resilience and knowledge exchange.
This pillar is seamlessly woven throughout the programme. Participants develop mental resilience and self-awareness through guided reflection moments, group discussions, and feedback rounds integrated into the daily rhythm. They are encouraged to reflect on their behaviours, motivations, and thought patterns, and to develop constructive attitudes in a safe yet challenging learning environment. The programme offers space for personal growth, supported by Route 66’s model, where learning emerges from practical experiences, interactions, and deep engagement with both nature and community.

13 February 2026
We remove waste from ravines, beaches and natural reserves not just to clean, but to heal. Every cleanup is a visible act of care for the Earth and a moment of reflection on how we live.

We turn discarded materials into useful tools, art or structures — proving that creativity, sustainability and beauty can go hand in hand. Waste becomes a resource, and creation becomes a statement.

EcoResilience GC takes place in a remote valley on the south side of Gran Canaria.
You will live and work in a UNESCO-protected natural area, surrounded by silence, mountains and palm trees.
This is not a tourist destination. It is a raw and real environment where nature sets the pace.
The nearby village and the ocean are within reach, but the heart of the programme is off-grid, outdoors and rooted in simplicity.
